Izzie Eriksen

Izzie Eriksen has worked within the social circular economy and delivered on  environmental policy for over 25 years. Over this period she has accumulated a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills in leading and managing values driven business, engaging communities in environmental action and working with stakeholders across many sectors and political levels. Izzie is really excited to join the board and contribute towards the next successful phase for the club.

Anne Greer

Dr Anne Greer is trustee and the Club’s Secretary, Anne also serves on the Communications, Marketing and Social Committee.  Anne is a retired medical professional and was a member of Weir Tennis club for 23 years. She also served on the Board of Creative Therapies for 18 years.  She volunteers for Children’s Hearing Scotland as a Panel Practice Adviser.

Derek McIntyre

Derek McIntyre is a trustee and is the Chair of the Club’s Finance Committee.  He was a member of Weir Cricket club for over 30 years, much of it in committee positions.  Derek is a Chartered Management Accountant currently Head of Finance for Scotland for the world’s largest construction materials company.

Lee Clark

Lee Clark is the License Manager for the Langside Rest and joined the board as a trustee in January 2022.  A qualified cyber security specialist, Lee is currently the Threat and Vulnerability manager for Virgin Money.  Lee has been involved in activity at Albert Park since 2015 and actively plays tennis, bowls and football.

Mark McGraw

Mark served the club as a trustee for a period in 2020 and re-joined the board as an external trustee in December 2022. He has extensive legal experience and has been a solicitor for over 25 years. He has a particular interest in making sport accessible to all and been involved with grassroots football for 20 years. He currently plays an active role with OLA Football Club and is also the Chairman of Better Scotland Football.

Chair of the Board of Trustees

Langside Sports Club, based on the Southside of Glasgow, is a community club offering tennis, cricket,

bowls and football to the local community.  This is complemented by a number of other activities and interests provided by partners who facilitate pilates, yoga, weight training and parenting advice. 

As a SCIO, (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation), it is run by a voluntary Board of Trustees, recruited on the basis of skills, experience and a passion for sport.

 

The Club is actively recruiting a Chair, to support and guide the existing LSC Board of Trustees as we navigate the next phase of the clubs operation. The Club has evolved over several years into a well established facility for the community, financially stable and with ambition to extend the use of the grounds while in balance with nature and the unique and tranquil setting of the club.

There are core responsibilities for the whole Board of which the Chair leads;

  • To lead the Club through the development and delivery of its purpose, working with the wider Trustees, sport committees and working groups. 

  • To facilitate organisational strategy, budget and policies to further the Club’s charitable mission

  • To support the management of the clubs facilities and financial resources sustainably in the interest of members, participants and the wider community

  • To monitor operations, programmes, facilities, volunteers and any paid staff to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

  • To support and enable the clubs development plans and any associated fundraising required for investments large or small.

  • Be up to date on all existing and developing sports charity governance best practices and ensure legal/regulatory responsibilities for the safety and wellbeing of members and associates of the club.

  • Participate in subcommittee operations related to finance, communications, grounds and building development as required.

  • Promote the Club publicly and advocate for grassroots sports development

 

This is a volunteer position requiring 2-5 hours per week, with more time requirement for specific projects, social events and the AGM.

  • Passion for promoting grassroots sports and engaging the community

  • Strategic thinking skills and logical approach

  • Strong collaboration, communication and negotiation abilities

  • Financial literacy and budget management skills

  • Commitment to attend board meetings and take on special projects which match your skills

  • Problem-solving mindset and sound judgement

  • Passion for accessible, community-focused sports

  • To work as part of a team of volunteers, this includes delegating and trusting tasks and actions to others 

  • Has an understanding and appreciation of working within the voluntary sector with the ability to communicate with different people within and outwith the organisation

The recruitment process involves meeting the board, making an application, and observing board meetings. This is followed by ensuring there is a strong, reciprocal and relevant match between the Chair and the values and ambition of the club. 

Member and Communication Trustee

Langside Sports Club is recruiting Trustees onto the Board, with particular skill and expertise. The latest focus is for someone with a broad suite of marketing and communication skills,  who would work closely with the existing Marketing Working Group, an established group of member volunteers who currently focus on this.  

 

This role is focused on developing member engagement through communications and events, working closely with Club's sports committees to increase member participation, to develop our community of members.  They will be responsible for leading, planning and contributing towards delivering marketing through our various channels, increasing engagement with current members and attracting new members.

 

Trustee roles require around 10 hrs per month, with time to prepare and attend meetings.
